Thrilled to announce I will be leading my own Clown Camp for children and teenagers for one week this Summer. Have wanted to do this for a long time and now after months of preparation I can finally announce Elf Lyons's Clown Camp
Dates - Monday 16th August to Friday 20th August
9.30am - 3.30pm: Clown & Comedy Club for ages 8 to 12.
4pm - 6pm: Clown & Comedy Club for ages 13 to 16.
Please spread the words to parents, nieces, nephews, siblings and godchildren you may have :D
It takes place at the gorgeous Omnibus Theatre in Clapham, London (SW4 0QW)

Listen, learn, laugh!
Are you looking for a unique summer club for your kids and teenagers?
Through an interactive and dynamic week your child will be introduced to the awesome impacts of Drama. Fostering creativity in a safe and supportive space, Elf Lyons Clown Club will help release your child's inner clown, build their confidence and self-love, all whilst improving their literacy and oracy. Using poetry, short stories, puppetry and stand-up comedy techniques - this is the perfect action-packed fun week for the performance stars of tomorrow!
At Elf Lyons Clown Club we aim to:
Build confidence
Have fun and be silly being yourself.
Be resilient trying out new skills!
Learn how to collaborate and create with others.
Practise speaking in front of a group in a safe and supportive manner!
Through the use of poetry and short stories we aim to improve reading ability and communication skills. PLUS - No technology/ iPhones or iPads required! (Let’s give those screens a rest)
About Elf Lyons:
Elf Lyons is a 30yr old qualified drama teacher and professional comedian and clown. With over ten years experience working as a performer and with children, appearing on CBBC’s The Dog Ate My Homework and working with companies such as Comedy Club for Kids - Elf loves young people and knows how to make Drama fun for kids of all ages and how to make it relevant to their strengths..
Elf was (and still is) very dyslexic and found it hard to access books for a long time as a child. Elf understands how much this can affect a child’s confidence and how lack of self-esteem in reading and speaking outloud effects every aspect of your child’s relationship to education. Hence why she has created this week’s workshop!
She will be assisted by workshop facilitator David Hoskin.
Structure:
Through an array of carefully crafted drama exercises, stand-up comedy exercises and carefully selected poetry and short stories - we will engage your child in a multi-sensory way to the benefits of Drama and how it can improve all aspects of your child’s learning. Using drama and it’s all its capabilities to re-ignite your child’s confidence, self-esteem and aid in the development of their critical thinking skills. Over the five days Clown Club will narrate and take your child through an entire book and a poetry collection- narrating the chapters and teaching your child to act out key aspects of them, through this interactive process we aim to enhance your child’s relationship to reading.
The course is accessible to kids of all abilities. If your child has SEND please email Elf. Elf is thrilled the Omnibus has a lift and ramps and she aims to ensure all exercises are accessible to all.

Course is limited in size in order for Elf and her colleague David to ensure everyone has the best fun possible. All kids will be attended at all times.
Due to each child's own allergies and dietary requirements, kids should bring their own packed lunch. There is also a lovely cafe in the Omnibus Theatre that does cake, coffee and food for parents to sit and chill out in during the day if you wish :)
About Facilitators - Elf and David Hoskin:
Both David and Elf are DBS checked and trained in Paediatric First aid. Elf is a qualified teacher and David has extensive experience working with children in the UK and India where he has worked as an Art teacher and workshop facilitator.
COST
Clown & Comedy Club for 8 to 12yr olds:
£40 a day or £160 for the week (Monday to Friday)
Theatre & Comedy Club for 13 to 16yrolds
£20 for one day session or £80 for the week (Monday to Friday)
