"HOW TO START MAKING WORK AGAIN' WORKSHOP
10, 11, 17, 18 October
10am - 5pm
Omnibus Theatre, London
Award winning clown and live artist Elf Lyons leads a fun and intensive four day workshop on "HOW TO START MAKING WORK AGAIN'.
Lockdown has come to an end (for now) and we are all now expected to get straight back to normal and BE CREATIVE... but how? Where are we meant to get the momentum, ideas and excitement from?
In this fun, open-hearted and exploratory four day workshop Elf will guide you through a series of exercises and creative practises she uses when generating, structuring and performing work on her own. She will teach you how you can utilise them within your own personal practise.
SAFETY & COVID
Due to how we will be adhering to strict social distancing measures and gov guidelines this workshop and all exercises involved will be focussed on creating SOLO WORK and working as a lone performer.
None of the exercises will involve physical interaction with another individual.
There is a maximum number of EIGHT SPACES available on the course. (We are working in a LARGE room)
Face-masks and/or Visors will be compulsory for all those participating unless they have health reasons not to.
DATES & PRICE
The course will run from 10am to 5pm on the 10th, 11th, 17th and 18th of October at the Omnibus Theatre in Clapham.
For the full four days the course is £200 (Students and Unwaged: £170).
Day rate: If there is availability and you would like to only attend one day then the price for one day is £60.
THE STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE:
10th October - BEING SILLY & REMEMBERING TO BREATH An interactive, joyous and fun day where we will focus on an array of clowning exercises that free your body and mind. This is perfect for those who are feeling stiff both emotionally and physically post lockdown.
11th OCTOBER- DEVELOPING YOUR SOLO SHOW - WHERE TO START AND HOW TO MOVE FORWARD
On this day we will work hands on with regard to developing an idea, how to build it and where to go for inspiration and structuring. This will involve lots of writing, rewriting, debate and analysis as a group as we share our ideas and make suggestions.
17th OCTOBER - CHOREOGRAPHY OF THE BODY A very physical day - through an array of mime, puppetry and silence we will analyse and focus on our relationship to our bodies and the role of the body in creating routines and how we use it to engage with an audience.
18th OCTOBER- CREATING, PERFORMING AND PERFECTING A 'TEN MINUTE' SET An intensive day where we focus on the challenge of creating, refining and then performing 10 minute solo performance pieces that we have devised on the day.
